What's new

Monolith is in active development. Here's what we've shipped, newest first.

September 15, 2026

  • New

Turn a suggestion into a rule

When a board suggests something, "Always do this" opens the automation editor already filled in — review it, save it, and the board keeps doing it without being asked again.

  • New

    Ask about a board's brief

Ask a question about the brief you are reading and get an answer grounded in that board, without leaving the panel. Any answer can be opened in chat to keep talking.

  • New

    Assign a person automatically

Automations can now assign a specific person to an item, so new work lands on a named owner instead of nobody.

September 12, 2026

  • Improved

    Board briefs arrive in seconds

Catch me up now returns in about twenty seconds instead of a couple of minutes. The brief asks the model for less internal deliberation and the same answer, so it costs less and reads the same.

  • Improved

    A calmer board table

Board tables lost their vertical grid lines — columns are now separated by alignment and a single hairline beside the item name. Rows are taller, hover and selection are clearer, and subitems hang off a thread line under their parent.

  • Improved

    A new typeface

Monolith now uses Inter throughout, which stays crisp at the smaller sizes board tables use and lines numbers up in currency and number columns.

  • Fixed

Long item names no longer get cut off

The Name column now measures the space its own controls take, so a name that fits is no longer truncated with empty space beside it.

  • Improved

Collapse a panel from the edge it moves

The sidebar and the agent dock no longer have collapse buttons tucked in their corners. Reach for the edge of the page beside the panel and it lights up along its whole length; click to fold it away, click again to bring it back. On the dock side that same edge still drags to resize, and Cmd+\ still folds the sidebar.

  • Improved

Your agents front and centre in the board dock

The board's agent dock now sits beside the board on the app background and puts Intelligence, Ask and each of your agents in one row of tiles. Tap an agent to start talking to it, watch its dot pulse while it answers, fold the thread list out of the way, and collapse the whole dock to a thin rail of the same tiles.

September 11, 2026

  • Fixed

AI generation on Anthropic works again

Generating a dashboard, board or automation with an Anthropic model, and the new board brief, failed immediately since 7 September; they run again.

  • New

    Board brief and suggestions

Catch me up on any board: the dock's Intelligence tab writes a short brief of the last 7 days with up to five suggestions you can apply in one click and undo for eight seconds.

  • Improved

    A cleaner, more consistent sidebar

Every row in the sidebar now shares one look: the open page carries a slim periwinkle bar on the sidebar's edge, section headers are labelled rules that fold when clicked, your organization and workspace live in one chip, and My Time and Trash stay pinned at the bottom.

  • Fixed

The open board is readable in the sidebar again

The highlighted board or dashboard row used white text on a light periwinkle fill in dark mode, which was hard to read. It now uses the same tint and edge bar as the rest of the navigation.

  • Fixed

The sidebar scrolls when you have many boards

A long list of boards used to push Dashboards, My Time and Trash off the bottom of the screen with no way to reach them. The middle of the sidebar now scrolls while the top and bottom stay in place.

  • New

    Board intelligence strip

Every board now shows overdue, blocked, overloaded, stalled and changed-since chips under its header; click a chip to focus the board on those rows.

  • New

    A new landing page

The Monolith site has a new front page: real product screenshots, a product tour of boards, item details and the agent dock, the agent-access story, plans and answers to common questions.

  • Improved

Compact assignees in the People column

When more than one person is assigned, the cell shows overlapping avatars (photo or initials) with a +N for the rest, so it fits the column; hover the stack to see everyone's names. A single assignee still shows their name.

September 10, 2026

  • Fixed

Assign several people to one task

The People picker now stays open while you pick, so you can add or remove several assignees in one go. Multi-select dropdowns behave the same way.

  • Improved

    Pages paint before data arrives

The sidebar and page skeletons now show instantly on a cold load or reload of any board, My Work, Goals, Time, Workload, Dashboards or Reports page instead of waiting for the server.

  • Improved

    Smoother board editing

Clicking into a cell, committing an edit, scrolling sideways or opening a dialog now updates only the affected row instead of every visible cell, so large boards feel snappier.

  • New

    Add items without waiting

New items and subitems appear the moment you press Enter and the input stays ready for the next one; Kanban quick-add lands in the right column immediately. If the save fails, your text comes back with the error.

  • Fixed

No more offline page on slow connections

A slow but working connection no longer flips a board reload to the offline screen after three seconds; the offline screen now appears only when the network is really unreachable.

  • Improved

    Faster board loads

Boards send about a third less data on open, and typing on a large board no longer rewrites the offline cache on every keystroke.

September 9, 2026

  • New

Boards remember how you left them

Collapse a group, expand sub-items, or switch to Timeline, and the board opens that way next time. Your arrangement is yours alone and follows you to any browser you sign in from.

  • New

    Filters and sorts stick

A filter you set on a board is still there when you come back. Clearing it clears it for good, and a shared link still carries whatever the link says.

  • Improved

    Expanded rows carry across views

A row you expand in the table stays expanded on the timeline, instead of each view keeping its own separate idea of what is open.

  • New

    Theme picker in the header

The sun/moon menu in the top bar now lists the six theme presets next to Light, Dark and System, so you can switch without opening Settings.

  • Fixed

"Try again" on error pages works

The retry button on error pages now actually retries.

September 8, 2026

  • Fixed

Light mode is no longer washed out

The sidebar and top bar in Light mode now have a visible tint and edge, section labels are readable, and the active page is clearly highlighted.

  • New

    Theme presets

Pick one of six themes — Keystone, Graphite, Ocean, Forest, Ember or Rose — in Settings → Preferences. Each restyles the accent and the chrome in both Light and Dark, and follows you across devices.

  • Improved

    Consistent page headings

Every page now uses the same heading style and card corners, and status pills meet contrast guidelines in both themes.

  • Improved

    Faster-feeling loading

Boards, Ask, Updates, reports and sign-in pages show a skeleton while they load, and a failed message send in Ask shows an error with a Retry button.

September 7, 2026

  • New

Talk to a specific agent by name

Start a message with @handle and that agent answers - and keeps answering the rest of the thread until you address someone else. Every answer is labelled with the agent behind it.

  • New

    Switch agents inside a conversation

The thread header shows who is answering and lets you hand the conversation to a different agent, or back to the plain Monolith assistant, without starting over.

  • Improved

Agents bring their own knowledge into chat

When an agent answers you directly, it now draws on the reference documents you attached to it and the notes it has learned, the same material it uses for its scheduled reports.

  • Improved

Daily reports no longer bury your chats

Agent briefings moved into their own collapsed section of the sidebar, so a daily report can't push your conversations off the list.

  • Improved

    Find an old conversation faster

The conversation sidebar gained a search box and folds your history into Today, Last week, Two weeks ago and Older - each collapsible, with a count.

  • Improved

    Ask AI is now Agents

The sidebar entry and command palette now say Agents, and the settings page that configures them is Agent setup.

September 5, 2026

  • New

Ask a specific agent by name

Type @ followed by an agent's handle at the start of a question in Ask, and that agent answers in its own voice with its own instructions.

  • New

    Name your organisation's assistant

Admins can rename the built-in assistant in Settings, AI. The new name is what it posts under everywhere, including Autopilot.

  • Fixed

Connect Monolith to your desktop AI tools

Connecting an AI app such as Cursor used to fail the moment you clicked Connect, with an error about the callback address. Those apps can now sign in to Monolith normally and read and write your boards through the connection.

  • New

Summon an agent from a comment

Type @handle in an item update and your agent answers on the item.

  • Fixed

Settings opens from the profile menu again

Choosing Settings from the profile menu did nothing — the menu closed and the page stayed put. It now opens your profile settings straight away, whether you click through from the menu or open the address directly.

September 4, 2026

  • New

Ask an agent for a PDF

Your agents can now write a document and hand it back as a PDF, attached to the item you are working on -- a summary, a status report, a checklist. You approve it before it is created, and you can read exactly what it wrote on the approval card.

  • Fixed

Deleting a folder that is already gone

If a board folder was deleted in another tab, deleting it again no longer dead-ends with an error and a Cancel button. The dialog closes and the stale folder disappears from your sidebar.

  • Fixed

    Collapsed folders stay collapsed

A brief hiccup loading your folders could permanently forget which ones you had collapsed. Your sidebar now keeps that state through it.

  • Fixed

Sidebar board order no longer gets stuck

Renaming, creating or reordering boards could leave the sidebar showing a stale order until a full page reload.

August 27, 2026

  • Improved

    Drag boards between folders

Boards already in a folder can now be dragged straight into another one, and the sidebar's drag handles work from the keyboard.

  • Fixed

Out-of-range workload defaults now explain themselves

Entering hours outside the allowed range in Workload -> Defaults now shows a clear message next to the field it belongs to, instead of a browser tooltip that a screen reader never announced.

  • Fixed

Admin user actions no longer fail silently

Sending a password reset, suspending or reactivating a user from the admin user list now confirms success and, if something goes wrong, says what - previously the menu simply closed and nothing happened.

  • Improved

A newly saved AI key shows as checked straight away

Saving a provider key in Settings -> AI now records the verification it already performed, so the provider reads as checked immediately instead of "Never checked" until the next nightly sweep.

August 26, 2026

  • Improved

Forms work properly with a screen reader

Error messages are now read out with the field they belong to, saving or clearing a form keeps your place instead of jumping to the top of the page, and confirmations are announced without interrupting you.

  • Improved

Approving an agent action tells you what happened

Approving or cancelling a proposed agent action now announces the outcome, instead of the buttons quietly disappearing.

  • New

See when your AI providers were last checked

Settings -> AI now shows, for each provider, when its available models were last verified and whether that check succeeded, so a provider whose key has stopped working is visible instead of silently going stale.

  • New

    Group your boards into folders

Organize the sidebar by dropping boards into folders you create. Folders are private to you, and they can hold both your own boards and ones shared with you. File a board from its ... menu, or drag it onto a folder.

  • Fixed

See every document you can attach

When an agent's document library grew past 100 items, older documents were impossible to attach with no explanation; the attach picker now tells you how many more there are.

  • Improved

    Better keyboard and screen-reader support

Saving or clearing a form no longer loses your place, error messages are read aloud alongside the field they belong to, and dropdown menus like Model and Timezone now announce what they are, not just what's currently selected.

August 25, 2026

  • New

See your AI usage at a glance

Settings -> AI now shows a monthly breakdown of what your organization has spent on AI features.

  • New

A weekly note on your AI usage

Your weekly digest email and notifications now include a short narrative summarizing how your AI usage looked that week.

  • Fixed

Dashboard summary widgets are working again

Number, battery, completion, and health widgets on dashboards were failing to load; they now show data as expected.

  • New

    Give your agents reference documents

Keep a personal library of documents your agents can draw on -- paste text, or upload a Markdown, text, PDF, Word or Excel file and we will pull the text out for you to review before saving. Attach any of them to any of your agents.

  • New

Agents write the way you do

An attached document is given to your agent in full, so it can copy the structure of a report you like, follow a policy list exactly, or use your team's internal shorthand without you re-explaining it every time.

  • Improved

See what fits before you attach it

Each agent shows a live budget as you attach documents, so you know what its model has room for. If a set no longer fits -- after switching to a smaller model, say -- the agent still runs and its history tells you the documents were left out, rather than quietly using part of one.

August 13, 2026

  • New

Agents can act on your boards

Give an agent permission to create items, attach files, log time or set up automations — and it does the work on its schedule instead of only writing you a summary.

  • New

Approve what an agent wanted to do

Anything you have not granted an agent is recorded as a proposal instead of being blocked. Review it on the run, or in the agent's thread, and approve it with one click.

  • New

Choose what each agent may do

Every agent has its own permission toggles, so you can let one attach files without letting it change items. Nothing is granted by default.

  • New

    Weekly and monthly agents

Agents can now run on a chosen weekday or day of the month, not only daily.

  • Improved

    Org-wide limit on agent permissions

Admins can cap what any agent in the organization may be granted, from Settings then AI.

August 11, 2026

  • New

Connect an AI key for each provider

Settings → AI now holds one API key per provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Mistral and Kimi — instead of a single key for everything. Add, replace and remove each one independently.

  • New

Choose your organisation's default AI model

Admins can pick the model the whole organisation falls back to, from a searchable list grouped by provider and ordered cheapest first. Clear it at any time to let each feature pick its own tier.

  • New

Pin an agent to a specific model

Any agent can be pinned to a particular provider and model rather than following the organisation default, and its run history now tells you when a run fell back to a different model.

August 9, 2026

  • New

    Reports across multiple boards

A report can now cover several boards at once, or follow a portfolio and pick up its boards automatically. Summary figures and charts roll up across everything in scope, and each board still gets its own detail, group progress and appendix.

  • New

    Reports has its own section

Find every report in one place from the new Reports item in the sidebar, instead of digging into each board. Reports you open from a board still work exactly as before.

  • New

Save a report as a template

Turn any report you have laid out into a reusable organization template, then start new reports from it. Templates are shared with everyone in your organization.

  • New

Preview a file without downloading it

Attachments open in a viewer sized to the document itself. PDFs render sharply on high-resolution screens, with a progress bar counting real megabytes and pages that appear as you scroll. Word documents and spreadsheets render inline too, spreadsheets with switchable sheet tabs. Nothing is handed to a third-party viewer.

  • Improved

Tell your files apart at a glance

Every non-image attachment now carries a coloured page icon in the conventional colour for its type — PDF red, Word blue, Excel green, PowerPoint orange — with the format written on the chip.

  • Improved

Know which desktop version you're running

The desktop app tells you when a newer one is available and offers the download, adds a Check for Updates item to its menu, and says the check failed rather than claiming you're up to date. Settings gained an Updating section, since updating starts by quitting the app.

August 7, 2026

  • Improved

    Invitations arrive in real time

An invitation used to appear only on the recipient's next full page load, so an open tab never saw it. The bell now updates within a second of one being sent, and clears just as quickly if it's revoked.

  • Improved

Connected AI clients can attach files

A client can now upload a file straight into an item's Files column. It can also read which columns are writable, what shape each value takes, and the real options behind a Status column — so it stops guessing.

  • Fixed

Desktop install instructions you can follow

The first step ran a command against an app you hadn't installed yet. It now names the file you just downloaded, in the order you actually do it.

August 6, 2026

  • New

    Your boards work offline

Boards you've opened stay readable with no connection. Reopen the app on a plane and the last boards you visited render read-only with an offline bar, and you can move between them. Everything cached is wiped from the device when you sign out.

  • New

A proper editor for long text

Text cells now open in a side panel with Markdown formatting and a live preview, instead of a cramped inline box.

  • Improved

Long text reads as text everywhere else

Collapsed cells, the activity feed, dashboard list widgets and report tables show formatted text as plain words rather than raw Markdown — and filtering and sorting now match what you see.

  • New

    Monolith for macOS

Settings now offers a macOS desktop app under Integrations, with step-by-step install instructions. It carries your unread count on its dock icon.

  • Improved

Connected AI clients can see your whole workspace

The connector goes from 7 tools to 22 — your week's work and your team's workload, time entries, goals, portfolios, dashboards and what their widgets say, and reports — plus logging time against an item. Settings lists every tool, marks the three that write, and says plainly what a client can remove.

  • Fixed

    Manual time entry saves

Typing hours into a My Time cell silently failed to save. It now persists, and entering 0 clears the entry.

  • Fixed

Signing in from a command-line AI client

Clients that finish sign-in on a local port were rejected, as was connecting a second client or reconnecting the first. They connect now, and each connection is kept separate from the others.

  • Fixed

Viewers no longer see controls they can't use

The add-item and add-group buttons are hidden on a board you can only view.

August 4, 2026

  • New

Your agents, docked beside the board

Every board gains a collapsible dock on its right edge. Talk to Ask or to any of your agents about that board, keep a thread private or share it with the board, and reply straight into a scheduled briefing. It stays collapsed until you open it, and costs nothing until you do.

  • New

Ask AI to move an item

Tell the assistant to move an item to another group and it proposes the move as a confirm card, naming the item and both groups. Nothing moves until you approve it.

  • Improved

An approved change appears straight away

A change you approve now lands on the board immediately — no reload, no flicker, no lost scroll position.

  • Fixed

The assistant can act on the items it just listed

Asking it to change an item it had found could fail with a complaint that it couldn't find the item. Its lookups now return everything its write actions need.

  • Fixed

A move you aren't allowed to make now says so

Moving an item on a board you can only view reported "Done" while changing nothing — by drag and drop, in bulk, and through the assistant.

August 3, 2026

  • Improved

    A calmer, deeper look

The sidebar and header now sit on a soft periwinkle wash, with your content as an inset card floating on it. Hovering and selecting lightens whatever is beneath instead of painting a grey rectangle, muted text is easier to read, and scrollbars no longer nudge the page as they appear.

August 2, 2026

  • Improved

See when an agent last ran, and why it stopped

Every agent in your roster now carries a last-run pill, and expanding one lists its recent runs with the real reason when a run is skipped or doesn't finish — previously a failing agent was silent.

  • New

    Pricing, published

A public pricing page lays the plans out side by side, with monthly and annual pricing, a full comparison table and answers to the usual questions.

  • Improved

    Sign-ups are open

The waitlist is gone. Anyone can create an account straight from the home page.

August 1, 2026

  • New

Personal agents that brief you each morning

A new Agents section in Settings gives you a roster of your own agents. Start from the Morning Brief template, say in plain language what it should watch, pick an hour, and it emails you a briefing on your work and leaves it in your notifications. An agent runs as you, so it only ever sees what you can see. Briefing emails have their own toggle, separate from the weekly digest.

  • Improved

A home page that shows the product

The landing page is now one continuous page built around agents, with a nav that stays put, worked examples of a board, an agent thread and a morning briefing, and answers to the questions people actually ask.

July 27, 2026

  • Fixed

The weekly digest sends, and covers the right week

The health digest had never actually gone out, and would have reported every overdue item ever rather than the week it is headed with. It is now scoped to its own period, and a run that cannot send is reported instead of quietly counting as a success.

  • Fixed

Ask AI answers survive leaving the page

Reloading or navigating away mid-answer used to lose the whole turn. The answer now finishes and is saved regardless, and it's waiting for you when you come back.

  • Fixed

Autopilot now posts as "Monolith Autopilot"

The scheduled board agent still signed its updates with the old product name.

  • New

Read a whole board over MCP in one call

Connected AI clients can now list a board's items and their values in a single request, instead of fetching items one at a time — and a truncated search now says so.

  • Fixed

Consent screen and MCP setup say "Monolith"

The OAuth approval screen and the Connect-via-MCP guide referred to the product by its old name.

  • Improved

Ask AI shows what it is doing

Ask AI now shows a live "Thinking..." indicator the moment you hit send, tells you when it starts reading your boards, and holds the composer until the answer lands so a slow question can no longer look like a broken one.

July 26, 2026

  • New

    Charts in your reports

Report Builder gains a chart block — donut and bar charts shaped from your board data, configured in the builder rail, and rendered in both the live preview and the exported PDF.

  • New

Ask AI can make the change for you

Ask AI no longer stops at telling you what to do. It proposes the change as a confirm card in the thread, spelling out exactly what it will write — and nothing touches your board until you approve it. Cancel and it's dropped.

  • Fixed

    Assignment notifications from connected agents

Being assigned to an item by a connected AI client now notifies you, just as an in-app assignment does.

July 25, 2026

  • Improved

    Settings, redesigned

Settings is now its own area with proper navigation instead of one long page — separate Account, Organization and AI sections. Rename your organization, leave one, manage appearance and security, and copy your server URL straight from a step-by-step guide for connecting Claude.

  • New

    Delete your own account

The Account danger zone now lets you permanently delete your account, confirming by typing your email. If you're the sole owner of an organization you'll be asked to hand it over first, so no workspace is left stranded.

  • Improved

Sign in and land where you were going

Opening a link while signed out now takes you to that page once you've signed in, instead of dropping you on your dashboard.

July 24, 2026

  • New

    Connect Claude to your workspace

Add Monolith as a connector in Claude Desktop or claude.ai and let it work with your boards — list them, search and read items, and create or update them. It connects as you and sees exactly what you can see, nothing more. Approve it once from a consent screen, and revoke it any time from Settings.

July 20, 2026

  • New

Let AI decide inside an automation

Add an AI step to any automation rule: write the instruction in plain language, then tick exactly which actions the AI is allowed to take — set a status, set percent, move to a group, or notify someone. Dry-run it to preview the decision before you turn the rule on.

  • New

Autopilot, a scheduled agent for your board

Switch on Autopilot and your board gets tended on a cadence, with only the housekeeping you tick: triage new items into the group that fits, chase overdue owners, and keep goal rollups current. It works under its own bot identity, so every change it makes is attributable.

  • New

    Find similar items

Any item now surfaces others across your boards that are about the same thing, even when they share no words — "onboarding" turns up "New-hire checklist".

  • Improved

    Ask AI searches by meaning

Ask AI can look up items by what they're about rather than the exact words in their names.

July 17, 2026

  • Improved

    Zoom out on the Timeline

The Timeline adds quarter and year zoom levels alongside day, week and month, fills the full width of the canvas, and no longer wraps its header dates.

  • Improved

    Sub-items nest on the Timeline

Sub-items now sit under their parent and start collapsed, so a busy board opens as a compact overview you expand row by row — including parents that have no dates of their own but scheduled sub-items underneath.

  • New

Chart items by when they were created

Timeline bars can now be driven by an item's Created at or Updated at timestamp, not just date columns.

  • Improved

    Timestamps no longer flash blank

Dates and times appear on first paint instead of filling in a moment later.

  • Fixed

Report covers show your workspace name

The report cover printed an internal ID instead of your workspace's name, in both the live preview and the exported PDF.

  • Fixed

    AI report summaries respect permissions

Only owners and editors can generate an AI summary for a report — viewers could previously trigger one they had no way to save.

  • New

    Board reports

Build a shareable report from any board — choose the sections you want, preview it live, and add an AI-written summary or write your own.

  • Improved

Ask AI gets its own page

Ask AI moved out of the popup into a full page, with saved conversations you can return to and answers that stream in as they're written.

  • Improved

    Faster, smoother everywhere

Boards, your home, dashboards, and the calendar and timeline views all load quicker and respond more fluidly.

July 10, 2026

  • Improved

    A refreshed look for Monolith

A cleaner, dark-first redesign across boards and tables — new type, calmer color, and sharper detail throughout.

July 5, 2026

  • New

    Bulk actions in Table view

Select multiple rows and move, set status, assign people, or delete them all at once. Shift-click to select a range; select-all respects your active filter.

  • New

Everything assigned to you, in one place

The new My Work page gathers every item assigned to you across all your boards, grouped by when it's due — Overdue, Today, This week, and Later.

  • New

    Search across all your items

Open the command palette and search items by name across every board, then jump straight to one.

  • New

Filter, sort and search any board

A board toolbar to filter by column, sort, and quick-search — narrowing what you see instantly, without reloading.

  • Improved

A guided start for new workspaces

New users now land on a friendly home that walks them to their first board instead of a dead end.

  • Improved

    Nav that works on mobile

Navigation collapses into a slide-in drawer on phones and small screens.

  • Improved

    Edit your display name

Change the name that shows on your profile and across the workspace from Settings.

July 3, 2026

  • New

    Currency columns

Track money on your boards with a new currency column — pick from 44 currencies, switch a column's currency in one click, and see totals in the footer and on collapsed parents.

  • New

    Completion widgets for dashboards

See how complete any board is at a glance — an overall percentage plus a progress bar per group, measured by percent or by done statuses.

  • New

    Quick-edit from Calendar and Timeline

Click a calendar event or timeline bar to update its status or progress on the spot, without opening the full item.

  • New

Keep status and progress in sync

Automations gain a "percent reached" trigger and a "set percent" action, with ready-made recipes: mark items Done at 100%, or jump to 100% when marked Done.
